In this video lesson, GM Igor Smirnov shares with you a less popular and deadly trap for White against the Sicilian Defense. It is from theΒ Portsmouth Gambit (a variation of the Wing Gambit) which happens after the following opening moves: 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.b4.Β

Black is disinclined to refuse the gambit due to the positional threat 4.b5, kicking the knight back and disrupting Black’s smooth development. After Black accepts the gambit either with 3…cxb4 or 3…Nxb4, you can play 4.d4 dominating the center.Β

The variations that GM Igor Smirnov shows in this video are all deadly. Just one wrong move would lose the game for Black and you will get a winning position in almost all the variations. Learn this deadly trap and beat the Sicilian Defense as White!

  2. In your older video you called it "Smirnov Gambit" πŸ˜‚

  3. 8:08 Bc3 Qe2 Be5+ Qxe5 Nxe5 winning the queen! Mate will soon follow..

  5. Bishop to e7 sacrifice and then queen f4 check mate

  6. Thoughts on this?
    Bxe7, Bxe7
    Qf4+, Bd6
    Qxd6++

  7. Really sucks for me you made this video, I found this Rb1 variation after doing some research on your last video years ago :/ now everyone will know it, haha

  8. Bishop to e7.
Every road leads to checkmate. No moves dont result in checkmate. Thats crazy bro.
    Mwahhhahhahha indeed

  9. Wow another nice line revealed. I'm a true fan of gambit opening. For d6 sicilian i like delayed alapin gambit which also has a lot of tricks & traps, then i'm glad that you show us another gambit for Nc6 sicilian aside from mengarini gambit (e4 c5, a3 nc6, b4). i'm sure many sicilian players are still unware of this line and could loose early in the opening, no sweat for us. there is always a hanging line for us to solve to keep our mind working, and that evil laugh that we're all waiting for πŸ™‚ thanks for sharing your secret weapon & more to come!

  10. 8:02 the best move was queen b5 trap the queen ,then give the check with bishop on d6 and pick up the queen

  11. 4:06 if black plays Na6 then what is the best move for white?

  12. This is my favourite chess channel, and I save all these tutorial videos in a dedicated playlist.

Just a little integration at timeline 3:20.

If Black decides to move Knight on a5, the line is absolutely winning for White. Here the best moves for both players after …Na5:

    … Na5 2. Bb5+ Bd7 3. Bxd7+ Kxd7 4. Qc2 e6 5. dxe6+ fxe6 6. Ne5+ Ke8 7. Qc7 Qe7 8. Qxa5 Rc8 9. Qa4+ Rc6 10. Nxc6 bxc6 11. Qxc6+ Kf7 12. Rb7 Nf6 13. g3 Kg6 14. Rxe7 Bxe7 15. Qc7 Nd5 16. Qxa7 h6 17. h4 Rd8 18. Qd4 Rd6 19. h5+ Kf7

  13. After 17. O-O Nf6 18. Rfc1+ Kb8, I agree with Bc3 (Fritz recommended) – it prob leads to mate sooner. And yes, Rb2 also wins the Black Queen and leads to mate.

  14. 8:03 Bishop to A3……. White Queen can then go to C file for push to Black King.

  15. It’s very good trap, but it never works on my elo (1200). My opponents rarely play the β€œobvious” moves like d5…

  16. Hello, I would like to see how it transpose to the same position after 3….Nxb4.
My opponents regularly take the b4 pawn with night, then retreat night to c6 and completely avoid the lines suggested. Their elo is 1800 and up.
After move six engine says black is 0.6 better

  17. I'd push pawn to d6 if takes Bishop mates if not just push again to deliver mate

  18. Remove translation text unable watch positions Exactly

  19. The answer on the time 8:02 is Bc3 with the threat of taking queen and Be5# only move that saves the game is Qb6 or Qe2 and after the move Be5# (supported by Nf3) queen takes or blocks bishop and white takes queen
